My research focuses on ways to convey the value of design to exceed the expectations of both clients and users. My goals are to develop more projects involving design entrepreneurship and the gamification of services.

My research interests are in Computational Fluid Dynamics, Compressible Flow, Applied AI and Data Analytics, Space Propulsion, Materials Under Extreme Environments, and Lifelong Workforce Development.

Elisabeth Kasner

My scholarship involves characterizing the challenges science teachers face in enacting reform-minded instruction, strategies to reduce those challenges, and ways teacher identity can be utilized as an opportunity for learning.

Sarah Johnson

My research program aims to integrate multiple disciplines including nutrition, food, agricultural, and biomedical sciences to perform translational research studies. Populations of interest including aging individuals (middle-aged/older) and, particularly, peri and postmenopausal women, as the physiological changes that occur throughout the menopausal transition and postmenopausal period accelerate the development and progression chronic diseases and conditions, particularly vascular dysfunction and cardiovascular disease.

Dawn Sowers

My research focuses on the use of technology to support individuals with motor and speech disabilities who may benefit from the use of technology to support their everyday communication. Specifically, I am interested in system design including human centered and user driven uses of AI to support effective and efficient motor and visual access to technology, in turn, prioritizing active participation in interactions.

Kaela Byers

My scholarship focuses on child, family, and community well-being, specifically addressing structural and systems-level issues that impact social determinants of health through community-engaged methods. 

Xiaofei Jia

I use structural biology to understand the immune evasion mechanisms of the HIV-1 virus. My research also involves developing therapeutics aimed at eradicating HIV infections and curing the disease.
