I am a political scientist with expertise in American politics, statistical methods, and the intersection of race, public opinion, and policy.
My research and teaching interests include political philosophy, American politics, American foreign policy, and international politics.
My research centers on the history of political thought, with a focus on national identity, historical consciousness, and civic thought. I explore a range of topics, from twentieth-century Spanish and early American political thought to contemporary questions in liberal and democratic theory. I also write more broadly on the ancient and modern traditions in political theory.
My primary research is in the education field, specifically education finance and charter schools. My interests include federal statistical system and translating complex data for a lay audience.
My research focuses on education policy, with an emphasis on civics and character education, school choice, education finance, teacher labor markets, and the philosophical foundations of education reform. My work explores how policy decisions impact educational outcomes and expand opportunities for students and families.
