My clinical and research interests are focused on the clinical management of difficult-to-treat depression and its correlates—including perinatal depression, perimenopausal depression, and occupational burnout—using randomized, observational, and asynchronous study designs. My current interests also lie in the integration of machine learning and digital health tools with standard clinical and research measures to improve the lives of patients struggling with major affective syndromes or symptoms.

The ultimate goal of our research is to gain a deeper understanding of how the neural correlates of cognitive decline in aging, with the long-term aim of developing strategies to mitigate cognitive deterioration in older age. We employ advanced, state-of-the-art methods, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to map the structural and functional properties of the aging brain.

My research focuses on the genetic causes of developmental disabilities in children, including: autism, intellectual disability, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and motor speech disorders. We now use genome sequencing on young children or newborns to identify these rare genetic disease as early as possible to initiate optimal treatment and prevention of co-occurring conditions.
