Educational Leadership and Policy Studies

Amaris Leal

With over 25 years in education, including 15 years in educational leadership, my teaching and research interests center on advancing sustainable practices in school leadership, with a particular focus on teacher retention and professional development. I am committed to preparing future educational leaders to address the systemic factors influencing teacher efficacy, satisfaction, and longevity.

Kayla Bill

I use mixed methods to study: (i) how political dynamics shape education policy processes and outcomes, and (ii) how we might design policies to address pressing local, state, and national education issues. My current work focuses on the politics of school desegregation efforts, the implementation of state education policy, and factors shaping teacher recruitment and retention.

Matthew Lenard

Dr. Lenard’s research focuses on the economics of education and how education policies shape students' transitions from school to work, skill development, and labor market outcomes.

Mario Jackson

Dr. Jackson's research interests include principal preparation for equity-oriented school leadership, crisis leadership, and K-12 educational policies with specific attention to how they influence equitable experiences and outcomes for marginalized students.
