I am interested in understanding how speakers acquire and use a non-native language. 

Dr. Patience’s research interests include phonetics and phonology, second and subsequent language acquisition, teaching and learning of second language pronunciation, Indigenous language revitalization, and phonetic and phonological variation.

Ms. Hyodo’s teaching interests include engagement and collaboration in the classroom. As the coordinator of the language house, Ms. Hyodo cultivates a 'Japanese home' where students can enhance their language skills and foster cross-cultural connections.
