I'm interested in helping students develop and maintain practices for succeeding in graduate school and beyond, including techniques for writing, engaging in research, asking better questions, and creating peer-led feedback and accountability groups.

Phillip Pinell

My research centers on the history of political thought, with a focus on national identity, historical consciousness, and civic thought. I explore a range of topics, from twentieth-century Spanish and early American political thought to contemporary questions in liberal and democratic theory. I also write more broadly on the ancient and modern traditions in political theory.

James Shuls

My research focuses on education policy, with an emphasis on civics and character education, school choice, education finance, teacher labor markets, and the philosophical foundations of education reform. My work explores how policy decisions impact educational outcomes and expand opportunities for students and families.

Christopher Schoborg

My independent research focuses on sports analytics and using advanced machine learning techniques to look at new insightful ways of exploring current analytical questions for major sports in the US. As a researcher for FSU, I leverage data and analytics to explore areas of undiscovered faculty development.
