I use mixed methods to study: (i) how political dynamics shape education policy processes and outcomes, and (ii) how we might design policies to address pressing local, state, and national education issues. My current work focuses on the politics of school desegregation efforts, the implementation of state education policy, and factors shaping teacher recruitment and retention.

My research focuses on adolescents’ psychosocial development and resilience within the context of proximal and distal influences in their socio-ecological systems. I also aim to strengthen collaboration among families, schools, and communities to promote positive youth development and support youth in navigating challenges with resilience.

My research uses ethnographic, narrative, and discourse analytic research methods to investigate students' and teachers' experiences in additional language education. I also teach courses in language teaching methods and language education research.
