Florida State University Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Jim Clark announced on May 3 the university will combine the College of Education and College of Health and Human Sciences, strategically positioning both colleges for future success.
Damon Andrew, Dean of the College of Education and Interim Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences, will serve as the inaugural Dean of the combined college.
A faculty task force from the expanded college will recommend a new name for the college for approval by the President and Faculty Senate.
Dear Colleagues,
Thanks to all of you who participated in the vote to approve the Bylaws and Name for the expanded college. Let me also take this opportunity to thank the department chairs who served on the College Naming and Bylaws Task Force.
I am pleased to report that there was unanimous support for the proposed bylaws, and close to unanimous support (one negative vote) for the proposed college name. The last step of the process is to request approval from the Faculty Senate for the name of the college. This will take place as early as possible in the fall semester.
Remember: there will be no changes to the Promotion and Tenure Process for the 2023-24 cycle. All P&T reviews will be conducted as they were done last year with separate college committees. Changes to P&T that are included in the approved bylaws for the expanded college will not go into effect until the 2024-25 academic year.
If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
